Funneling Assessment Technique
The figure of a funnel-or tornado-is to illustrate the Funneling Assessment Technique which aims at reducing the defensiveness of the batterer's feelings of hostility. Generalized questions (represented by the wide border at the top of the funnel) are asked of the batterer and spiral into more and more specific questions (as represented by the pointed base of the funnel.).
