The graph illustrates prevalence of alcohol use and dependence amongst women. The vertical axis runs from zero to 70 percent, and the horizontal line denotes either alcohol use or dependence in age groups 18-24; 25-34; 35-44; 45-55 and 55 and older. Total combined rates of alcohol dependence or use amongst the five groups in the aforementioned order are approximated (then followed by the percentage of either dependence or use in parenthesis): 55% (12% / 43%); 65% (12% / 53); 62% (9% / 53%); 56% (8% / 48%); and 38.75% (2% / 36.75%). %).
