Figure3 - Prevalence of types of drinkers
The Figure depicts a circle representing the population at-large, and the prevalence of abstinence, low-risk drinking, at-risk drinking, and abuse/dependence among older adults. According to this figure, 65% of the population are considered abstainers, 20% are considered low-risk; 10% at-risk, and 5% are considered those who suffer from abuse and/or dependence. Please note that definitions for older adults regarding low risk, at-risk, and problem use focus primarily, but not exclusively, on alcohol
