Alcohol Research: Current Reviews Vol. 34, No. 3 “Update on the Genetics of Alcoholism” is now available in print and on the NIAAA Web site. It features information about how differences between individuals in how they respond to alcohol are linked not only to variations in their DNA sequences but also to the complex interactions between their genetic endowment and the many environments to which they are exposed. The latest issue of NIAAA Spectrum (www.spectrum.niaaa.nih.gov) was released in September 2012. This issue focusses on college drinking, with feature articles on how Facebook may provide researchers with clues about college student drinking habits, how NIAAA is working with college presidents to identify promising intervention strategies to cut down student drinking, and how more detailed looks at college drinking styles may help in the development of social-norms campaigns. | |

Spanish Rethinking Drinking is now available. The recently released “Pienselo antes de beber: El alcohol y su salud” translates into Spanish the Rethinking Drinking booklet, which is aimed at the general public. It addresses alcohol and health and offers research-based information about drinking and its consequences.
