Alcohol Researcher Dr. Marisa Roberto Receives PECASE Award
Dr. Marisa Roberto (shown here with NIAAA Acting Director Dr. Ken Warren) was one of 100 recipients of the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE) honored by the President on January 12, 2010. Dr. Roberto’s research focuses on neuropeptides, neuronal function, and synaptic communication related to alcohol and other drugs of abuse. The PECASE recognizes young scientists who pursue innovative research and demonstrate a commitment to community service. Winners receive up to a 5-year grant to further their research in support of critical government missions. Dr. Roberto, associate professor in the Committee on the Neurobiology of Addictive Disorders at the Scripps Research Institute, received the PECASE in 2008.
